Ok I’m a guy, so I’m going with the sports analogy. Ladies let me chop it up for ya… Are you a Whitney Houston or an Alicia Keyes? So are you all getting my point to all of this? There are probably hundreds of barbers and stylists in your city or town so what makes you stand out? What makes you different, better, or worthy of me driving across town to come to your salon or barbershop?

There is a lot of competition for the heads you want in the seats in your spot. So the trick to getting noticed is to be unique. That’s the difference between a Rodman and Whitney vs Alicia and Tim Duncan… granted they are all talented but who does a better job of garnishing media attention.

Now I’m using an extreme example here, so I don’t want to see anyone in the newspaper with a wedding dress on, or getting caught in domestic disputes in public. But the point here is to really think of how you can differentiate yourself from the pack creatively, to bring attention to your skills, salon or shop. You can create a persona, be your own celebrity, but most importantly stand out from the crowd and scream “I’m different!”. Have at it and holla back!!
