Look here my fellow barbers and stylists that are hustlin’ to make a buck. Here is the conversation you’re having whether you know it or not. “Hey Potential Head, My name is Mr. Barber/Ms. Stylist Extraodinaire, come to my shop and sit in my chair because I’m the best in town, here’s my phone number, address, and hours, hey did you know you can email me to!! Anyway I hope you give me a chance, hopefully I’ll see you later, Bye!”

Do you see how weak that sounds, you may have the skills of a Kobe Bryant with the clippers but the marketing voice of a Pee Wee Herman. (Sorry about all the basketball analogies but I’m getting my NBA on right now with the playoffs… Go New Orleans and CP3!) Anyway back to my point… in order to get the attention of your potential clients you have to create a hook!

What is a Hook? Well for our purposes I’m not talking about that part of the song that has the whole club jumpin’ or your girlfriend screaming out the window of her car. I’m talking about a call to action, a special offer or incentive, and a sense of urgency, something to make that phone ring for appointments or to create a stampede at your door. Figure that out and you have some good marketing, it will take some time to get a good incentive fit to your potential and current customer base. But once you figure out what pushes their buttons, you can do it over and over again to create that end result you want… “money in da bank, shawty what you think!!”.

Good Luck
