What Is An Effective Marketing Strategy For A Barber or Stylist?
Filed Under Marketing | Leave a Comment
For a barber or stylist it’s all about strategy when it comes to your marketing. In the beginning we all begin with limited means, I mean let’s keep it real. We’re scraping the funds together to buy equipment, chairs, getting the lights on, business cards, the list goes on. But honestly we can spend all this money on the intangibles and forget to put money where it will really count… the marketing!
So what is an effective marketing plan? The short answer… the one you can afford! If you can do billboards then by all means do it but most of us can’t afford to start that big in the beginning. So here’s a suggestion:
Instead of Advertising think Promotions - The difference between the two is simple… think about when you’re reading a newspaper or magazine. How much do you really pay attention to the advertising? Well in order to make ads work you’ve got to be in multiple issues, or daily for the effect to really hit. There are major companies paying big dollars to get eyes to pay attention to their ugly ads. So why try to compete, instead focus on promotions. By that I mean, create a buzz around a grand opening with flyers, celebrate a new stylist or barber joining the team, these are just a few ideas but the point is to promote something rather than advertise blindly.
The techniques causes people to take notice because you have something going on rather than a “hey look at me I’m another ad for a barbershop or salon advertising my address and phone number. Have fun and let me know what you think.
